Janie's Jumpstart promises small class settings of a MAXIMUM of 8 students per instructor so there is alot of attention to the individual needs of each student.   Plus over 10 hours of instruction and 3+ hours of jamming!  This Jumpstart weekend will be held in a comfortable  home setting in Austin, Texas. Accomodations are NOT provided-there are a number of local B&B's and hotels within 10-20 minutes of the camp.

SMALL JAMS

In addition to small group classes, there will be novice and intermediate jam sessions with the instructors and assistants to help you learn how to “play well with others” and have a whole lot of fun!

LISTENING/REPERTOIRE SESSIONS

There will be opportunities for listening and repertoire session with Jane and Bill. This is your chance to take home your favorite tunes as played by these master musicians.  In addition, there will be a new/original tunes repertoire session with tunes written by the band, Coracree!

Is this Janie's Jumpstart Weekend Camp for me?

This camp is designed for novice (beginner) and intermediate level clawhammer banjo players, intermediate fiddle (violin) players and novice (beginner) and intermediate guitar players. Prior knowledge of old time music is not required. The focus of Janie's Jumpstart is not just about learning tunes, but to also learn and use techniques and musical strategies to get you to the next level in your playing-regardless of ability or level! And of course, to have a lot of FUN!

With the small class, you will have alot of individual attention from your teacher as well as the opportunity to play and jam with our Jumpstart staff and assistants throughout the weekend.

This is not a "learn as many tunes as possible" camp, although you will learn many tunes-it is more about playing the tunes better!

How will I know what class to be in?

Georgia asked me if I could play the fiddle and click my heels in the air-I said "Sure" and I started walking down from the cabin playing St. Anne's Reel.  I heard Georgia say "2" and up I went! She got the shot as is-no photoshop here!
